The Need

Cardiovascular disease is the number one cause of death in the United States (1 in 4 deaths), 80% of which are preventable.

Coronary artery disease, the most common type of heart disease, kills more than 350,000 people each year.

Electrical disturbances (arrhythmias) of the heart, such as atrial fibrillation, account for more than 70,000 strokes per year in the United States.

Americans suffer 1.5 million heart attacks and strokes each year, contributing more than $320 billion in annual healthcare costs and lost productivity. By 2030, this cost is projected to rise to $818 billion.

How it works

Generating an on-demand ECG: Time is of the essence

Sudden changes in the electrical system of heart that yield fast, slow or irregular rhythms (arrhythmias) can occur with symptoms that last for hours, minutes or seconds

  • Touch activation of the ring with ECG capture prior to opening the application
  • In the absence of symptoms, users are alerted of arrhythmias via a ring-based LED color alert notification based on detection of HR abnormalities from PPG and accelerometer measurements
  • 3-tiered oversight by software, telemetry technicians and physicians to identify high risk cardiac events

How it works

What do multiple ring touch points offer?

Significant blockages of the heart that transiently limit delivery of oxygen to heart muscle (Ischemia/Infarct) and cause chest pain (angina) require multiple “views” of the heart for detection.

Imagine trying to take a picture of rear-end damage of your car by taking a picture from the front of your car.

Everbeat ST’s multi-electrode ring form factor enables multiple “snapshots” (leads) of the heart, improving the ability of our prescribing physicians to make a timely diagnosis of ischemia.
